Trover Champion • Diana Jackson
Director, Mahr Cancer Center and Emergency Department
An encouraging smile. A warm hug. Diana Jackson knows that human interaction is key to the healing process — a lesson she has learned well after 22 years working in oncology. As director of the Merle M. Mahr Cancer Center, Diana encourages her staff to make compassion a key element of patient care. And she makes it easy to do — all they need to do is follow her loving example.
This high-touch approach to patient care is quickly becoming a Trover hallmark — even in the Emergency Department, where Diana also is director. After all, we all know how scary the ER can be — bright lights, noisy machines and frightened patients. That's why Diana's calming presence is such a welcome addition to the experience for patients.
Not surprisingly, Diana is a Pathway Champion. "I'm the fell-good, pat-yourself-on-the-arm person," Diana jokes, knowing firsthand what a positive attitude can do for healing the body — and the soul.
